Pune: Commissioner of Police Rashmi Shukla has lauded the efforts taken by officials of Yerawada police station for designing Know Your Criminal (KYC) system, a Google map-based software which provides personal details of criminals. Shukla has rewarded Police Inspector Ashok Kadam with an appreciation letter and Rs 15,000.
Similarly, other persons were also rewarded with appreciation letters including, Kadam’s son Dipen, Policemen Balasaheb Gaikwad, Gulab Shivale, Ganesh Patole and Sharad Bangar. The policemen were also rewarded Rs 2,500 each.
Dipen, who is an engineer, along with Riyaz Nadaf helped police officials with technical help. Nadafwas also rewarded with appreciation letter.
The police have updated details of criminals, including exact residential address and recent photograph, making it easy for police officials to keep a tab on them. It took four months for the city police to compile the data of about 757 history sheeters.
Police Inspector Kadam said police can now find the name, age, address, recent personal picture, photos of the home of the criminal and photos of personal identification of history sheeter, by clicking on one link.
“Locating the house of a history sheeter was a tiresome task, mainly at night, when people are asleep. So, we were in need of accurate information, so that we do not make any mistake and trouble others while searching for a history sheeter at his home,” added Kadam.
