Police arrest two for attempt to murder

Police officials said that the accused had earlier claimed it as a be a hit and run, but later, it was found that they had planned to kill Balasaheb Vanshiv by running him over.

PUNE: Officials from the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station have arrested two involved in an attempt to murder case. Balasaheb Vanshiv was hit by a car by an unidentified person on March 13, in Ambegaon Khurd. Police officials said that the accused had earlier claimed it to be a hit and run, but later, it was found that they had planned to kill Vanshiv by running him over. The arrested were identified as Avinash Kamble (39) from Narhe village and Nitish Thopate (30) from Dhayri. 

As per information given by the Bharti Vidyapeeth police, Vanshiv was seriously injured after he was hit by a car while out on his morning walk. Later, Vanshiv told police officials that he suspected Kamble was involved in the case. Following which a team of officials from Bharati Vidyapeeth police station started an investigation. Police Sub-Inspector Mahendra Patil, Assistant Sub-Inspector Pradip Gaurav and Police-constable Jagdish Khedekar acted on a tip-off and nabbed the duo accused from Kolewadi.

Police Inspector Vishnu Pawar of Bharti Vidyapeeth police station said that Kamble’s wife had lost the sarpanch elections in 2018 because of Vanshiv and so Kamble planned the murder. The arrested individuals have been booked under attempt to murder case. The Bharati Vidyapeeth police are investigating the case.
