Police arrest one person in connection with the attack on doctor

Doctor was attacked by three for refusing to carry out abortion 

Pimpri: City police arrested a youth for attacking gynaecologist in Pimple Gurav. The person was identified as Siddharth Sajan Suryavanshi (21) a resident of Mahadev Ali Khadki Bazzar. Police have  also detained two minors connection with this case. 

However, the Doctors' asociation has expressed it's disappointment and claimed that police have not booked the accused for the attempt of murder under section 307. Dr. Pradip Nanavare said, " We have called a meeting of the Doctors in Pimple Saudagar to decide our stand over the Police action on the Monday afternoon. "

Dr. mol Bidkar who runs Sakhi Nursing home at Kate Puram chowk in Pimple Gurav was attacked on Saturday after he refused to carry out an abortion of a 5-month pregnant woman.

According to Police, three persons including Suryavanshi attacked  Dr Bidkar at his hospital with a sickle. According to Police, around two weeks ago, a pregnant woman of 19 to 20 years of age was brought to Dr. Bidkar's hospital by the accused for termination of pregnancy.

As the woman was 20-weeks pregnant, Dr Bidkar refused to carry out the abortion saying it is not advisable to do so.
However, on Saturday at around 9.30 pm, three persons came to his hospital. One stood outside the hospital, one waited at the door of the doctor's cabin, while the other entered the cabin and attacked Bidkar.

At the time of the attack, Bidkar was talking over the phone. His mobile got damaged during the attack. The attackers hit him on the shoulder.

On Sunday, to protest against this incident, the members of Sangvi-Pimple Gurav Doctors' Association had gathered at the Sangvi police station and demanded immediate arrest of the three attackers.
