Police arrest man for cheating bank

According to Market Yard police, the accused made a fake election card in the name of a deceased person identified as Sopan Kad. The accused, using the election card and other documents, took a loan of Rs 2.5 crore from the bank

Pune: A 29-year-old man was arrested for taking a loan of Rs 2.5 crore in the name of a deceased person, from Solapur Janata Sahakari Bank in Market Yard.

A complaint in this regard was registered at Market Yard police station on Wednesday.

The accused was identified as Manoj Kad, a resident of Haveli, who made a fake election card in the name of a deceased person to acquire a loan of Rs 2.5 crore from a bank.

According to Market Yard police, the accused made a fake election card in the name of a deceased person identified as Sopan Kad. The accused, using the election card and other documents, took a loan of Rs 2.5 crore from the bank.

He took the loan on March 19. However, the incident came to light a week back, after which a complaint was registered by a bank official of the bank on Wednesday.

A case under section 420 (cheating) of Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused.
