PMRDA takes first step in water management

Pune: While the water resources department has sanctioned 3 TMC water to the Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) region, the PMRDA has also started making provisions for water management in their area.

Earlier this week, PMRDA, district planning committee and officials of Pune Zilla Parishad carried out mud cleaning activity of a lake in Wadachivadi to increase water storage level of the lake. 

Guardian Minister Girish Bapat who was present for the event said, “Funds of Rs 6 crore have been allocated for the project which is expected to be completed in a month. The level of water is bound to rise which will help people during the summer season. Another 15 to 20 lakes will be cleaned in a similar fashion.” 

Speaking about the initiative PMRDA Chief Kiran Gitte said that town planning scheme (TPS) is initiative from PMRDA for development in Pune district. 

Pune Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Suraj Mandhare was also present.
