PMRDA to strengthen firefighting services

PUNE: To strengthen firefighting services, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has tied up with several private societies which will help in firefighting in nearby villages. A budget of Rs 50 crore was recently approved by the State government for building firefighting services for PMRDA.

On Friday, PMRDA Chief Kiran Gitte said that PMRDA has tied up with Nanded city in Nanded area of Haveli taluka, Blue Ridge Society in Hinjewadi area of Mulshi taluka and with Kolte Patil society in Marunji. “Around 30 firefighting men will be provided to each centre who will cater to people 24x7. A firefighting station is also being developed at Wagholi. A fund of Rs 15 crore will be required to develop this fire station. All these four fire stations will help in catering to at least 50 villages,” added Gitte.
