PMRDA orders Lavasa Corp to scrap entry charge in 15 days

Pune: Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) has given a time span of  15 days to scrap the entry fee charged from four-wheelers and two-wheelers visiting Lavasa. Currently, Lavasa Corporation charges Rs 500 per four-wheeler and Rs 200 per two-wheeler as  entry fee. The PMRDA has now ordered Lavasa Corporation to scrap the entry fee and charge only appropriate parking charges at the spots designated for parking of vehicles.

On July 13, the State government made a decision to cancel the special planning authority status awarded to Lavasa Corporation and the special planning authority status for Lavasa was awarded to PMRDA.

By this, the PMRDA obtained rights to sanction plans and building permissions at Lavasa. Since July, several co-ordination meetings were held between Lavasa and PMRDA. The issue of entry fees being charged at Lavasa was discussed during one such meeting.

PMRDA Chief Kiran Gitte said, “Several tourists visit Lavasa each year. Lavasa Corporation is charging Rs 500 per four-wheeler and Rs 200 per two-wheeler as entry charge. We have instructed them to scrap entry charge and asked them to charge only appropriate parking fees. In 15 days they will have to take necessary action.”
