PMPML to provide night service during Ganeshotsav

PIMPRI: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is going to provide service for the commuters during night time in Pimpri Chinchwad throughout the Ganesh festival. A total of 240 buses will be plying in the city on different routes for the convenience of those visiting Ganesh pandals during night hours. The circular route will be made operational for connecting suburban areas of the city.

Mayor Nitin Kalje and Standing Committee Chairman Seema Savale revealed information about the service that will be provided for devotees during Ganesh festival. Newly-elected members of PCMC had raised the issue with PMPML Chairman and Managing Director Tukaram Mundhe that the city is receiving step motherly treatment by the transport utility. The efforts of the elected members have borne fruit in terms of special attention to the city by the utility.

Kalje said, "Citizens of Pimpri Chinchwad can visit Pune as well as the suburban areas of Pimpri Chinchwad also. It has been observed that since there is no adequate bus service during night time, people face inconvenience while returning home after visiting Ganesh pandals. But this year, there will be adequate night service of PMPML during the festival."

Savale said, "We have demanded PMPML authorities to provide night service during festival days. Accepting our demand, PMPML is going to provide bus service with 240 bus after 12.00 in the night. There will be 59 buses from Nigdi, 56 from Chinchwadgaon, 58 from Bhosari, 10 each from Pimple Gurav and Sangvi and 7 from Akurdi railway station. There will be 40 buses from Chinchwadgaon to Dange Chowk."

Beside this a shuttle service on a circular route in PCMC will be functional between August 31 and September 5. This route will connect Bhosari, Nehrunager, Pimpri Chinchwad, Nigdi, Pimpri Road, Nehrunagar and Bhosari. For this shuttle service, only Rs 10 will be charged for any distance on the route. On this route, one bus will ply every 20 minutes.
