PMPML to ply 819 buses during Ganeshotsav

“The authority has decided to run extra buses also at night as ‘yatra special’. An additional charge of Rs 5 will be levied on the fares and these buses will start plying on roads after 10 pm,” a Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited official said.

Pune: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has pressed into service more than 819 additional buses that will ply to clear the extra rush of passengers during the Ganesh festival from September 13 to 23. The buses will run in a phasewise manner.

According to the officials, in the first phase, from September 14 to 16, 170 buses will run and in the second phase, 649 buses will run from September 17 to 23.

“The authority has decided to run extra buses also at night as ‘yatra special’. An additional charge of Rs 5 will be levied on the fares and these buses will start plying on roads after 10 pm,” a Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited official said.
 
However, travel passes will be valid only till midnight, the official added.
According to the official, due to the festival, the internal roads in the city will be closed by the city police to avoid traffic jams and the buses will ply on alternative roads.
