PMPML to observe road safety week

Subhash Gaikwad, spokesperson, PMPML, said that all the drivers with the PMPML have been given strict instructions to follow the traffic rules in letter and spirit.

PUNE: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) will observe an accident-free week from April 23 to May 7 as part of the road safety week. The administration has directed all the drivers with the transport body to take utmost care to avoid any accidents during this period by strictly following the rules. 

The officials of PMPML said that successful implementation of the scheme will help build a positive image of the transport body. Subhash Gaikwad, spokesperson, PMPML, said that all the drivers with the PMPML have been given strict instructions to follow the traffic rules in letter and spirit. “They have been instructed to follow the signals, avoid stopping the bus on zebra crossings, following speed limits, halting the bus on designated stops, avoiding unnecessary honking and maintaining courteous behaviour with passengers,” said Gaikwad.

Like every year, the Regional Transport Officer has asked various arms of road transport and safety such as PMPML, State transport, traffic police to carry out campaign pertaining to road safety between April 23 and May 7.  The theme for the road safety fortnight this year is ‘Sadak Suraksha - Jeevan Raksha’.

Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had directed all district transport authorities to carry out activities and submit the reports.
