Pune: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has floated a tender for buying the special bus only for women ‘Tejaswini’. This is the third time that PMPML has floated a tender in two months, earlier there was no response of tender.
The PMPML administration is planning to procure 30-40 non-air conditioned midi-buses which have a sitting capacity of 27 to 30 seats from the funds provided by the State government.
In the State budget of 2016-17, the State government allocated Rs 50 crore to provide financial assistance to intra-city transport bodies in five cities including Pune, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli and Nagpur.
Of this allocation, PMPML received Rs 10 crore and also finalised a Request for Proposal (RFP) specifying the attributes of the midi-buses that were to be procured. However, despite floating the tender twice, the transport body was not able to find a manufacturer that will provide the buses with specified attributes.
“We are planning to buy 30-40 buses from the Rs 10 crore provided to us. These buses would be non-airconditioned, diesel run, 900 mm floor height, BS-IV engine, tubeless radial tyres, equipped with a fire extinguisher and LED information board. We are hoping that we will find a manufacturer when the bids are opened tomorrow,” an official said.
