Siddharth Shirole, PMPML Director said, “Bonus will be paid every year to employees. Last year the court ordered payment of bonus. Now, it is the responsibility of both the municipal corporations to provide the required amount. We are positive that this year, employees will be given a bonus.”

Pune: The employees of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) expect a bonus this year for Diwali, which is distributed every year by the administration. However, the transport body has already stated that they are not in a good financial condition.

Last year, when the staff faced the same problem, they had moved the court. However, the administration demanded Rs 33 crore from both the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to distribute bonus to the employees.

Last year, then Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Tukaram Mundhe rejected the demand for  a bonus. After that, the employees’ working union threatened to go on strike and later they moved the court. The court gave its verdict in favour of the employees. Then both municipal corporations made a special provision of Rs 31 crore. The PMC gave Rs 19 crore and PCMC Rs 12 crore to PMPML.

Siddharth Shirole, PMPML Director said, “Bonus will be paid every year to employees. Last year the court ordered payment of bonus. Now, it is the responsibility of both the municipal corporations to provide the required amount. We are positive that this year, employees will be given a bonus.”

Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and the employees union have asked the administration to pay the bonus. Around 10,000 employees will get Rs 33 crore as bonus. The PMPML administration has taken immediate steps towards giving a bonus to employees and demanded from both municipal corporations. If the amount is received on time, the employees will be given the bonus.

“The PMPML has demanded money from PMC and PCMC, and it will be distributed to the employees. We are expecting that this year we will get the bonus as the PMPML administration has taken steps on time,” said Rajendra Kharade, President INTUC.
