Pune: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has taken punitive action against 102 employees after it sought a report on misbehaviour by staff with passengers in the month of July.
Action has also been taken for other reasons such as misappropriation of funds. While four employees have been dismissed, 16 have not been given any work and have been forced to merely sit in the office as a punitive measure.
“The transport body has a policy of treating its passengers with respect and providing them safety and assurance. The employees, who do not treat passengers in a civilised manner are penalised as per disciplinary procedures by the administration,” said Subhash Gaikwad, spokesperson of the PMPML.
The PMPML administration received the report for July in which it got hundreds of complaints of misbehavior by PMPML staff from passengers. Taking the issue seriously, the public transport body’s administration took action against 102 employees. “The action was also taken for misappropriation of funds, absenteeism, negligence and carelessness. The administration has decided not to give annual increments to two employees,” said Gaikwad.
Besides, from April 1 to June 30, PMPML has taken action against 104 employees for misbehaviour. Of these, 57 have been forced to merely sit in the office without work. Also, punitive action has been taken against 75 other employees.
