PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is yet to declare the disaster management plan as the southwest monsoon will reach any time in Pune.
The plan is important for citizens as they could use information mentioned in the plan or use the contact numbers for getting help from the government machinery in case of distress.
The Disaster Management Cell of the PMC publishes the plan every year for citizens to seek help if there is any disaster or flood during the monsoon.
By this time, the PMC should have released the plan for the benefit of citizens and uploaded the same on its official website. However, nothing has been done owing to the busy schedule of Municipal Commissioner Kunal Kumar.
Disaster Management Cell Head Ganesh Sonune told Sakal Times that the plan would be published by Kumar. “The plan is ready but we need some time to make it public,” Sonune said. When asked is the delay in publishing the plan owing to Kumar not having time, he said the important numbers have already been uploaded on the website.
Earlier, Sonune had said that the plan would be made public on June 7.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will have to make citizens aware of the plan, as ultimately they have to follow the guidelines in the plan and call the persons concerned for a quick response from the rescue teams.
The plan will have the information about the flood-affected areas of Pune, help centres, important contact numbers in the PMC and standard operating system to be followed during the monsoon.
The Pune Fire Brigade will also be ready to help the disaster management cell in case of a flood-like situation or any such emergency.
