PMC to use drones for survey
The civic body will make use of drones to survey land and seek details for the project
Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will use drones to survey the High Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR) project. This is the first project in which PMC will be using drones for the survey.
On Friday, the civic body authorised the municipal commissioner to choose a practical and feasible financial model to implement this project. The civic administration had sought rights for finalising financial and technical option to implement this project and to allow to use Rs 1,550 crore for land acquisition for project. All these demands were approved by the general body meeting. Meanwhile, opposition party corporators have sought details of the project before giving final approval to administration.
While sharing information regarding the project, Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao said, “The corporation has started a land survey which requires use of drone. We have sought permission from the police. The use of drone is necessary to seek land details, which will be required for HCMTR. The civic body intends to engange international companies to implement the project and we have written a letter to 11 different embassies including USA and European countries. To carry out this project, we will need 30 per cent land from private land owners, out of the remaining land, 21 per cent land belongs to Forest, Revenue, Defence and Irrigation departments and we have started correspondence with other departments to acquire the same. We will require money to acquire private land. We have to set up special cell for land acquisition.”
Compensate based on Samruddhi Mahamarg
On the land acquisition issue, former Mayor and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator Prasanna Jagtap has demanded to give special compensation to people affected under this project. He said, HCMTR is passing through a dense portion of city area and there are many people who will be affected by project just like the State government’s Samruddhi Mahamarg project.
BJP’s Sushil Mengade, Congress Corporator Avinash Bagwe and others have also demanded special status for the HCMTR project.
