PMC-round up for Ganesh immersion

PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has made all arrangements for immersion of Ganesh idols. The immersions will start from Saturday.

According to the civic administration, all important ghats along Mutha river, mostly located in the heart of the city, have been readied. Every year, 3,000 to 4,000 Ganesh idols installed at homes are immersed after one-and-a-half days in various water bodies in and around Pune.

Speaking to Sakal Times, Suresh Jagtap, Head of Solid Waste Management Department of the PMC, said the cleaning of all important ghats has been carried out. "Lifeguards have been already been deployed at the ghats to help devotees in immersion and to avoid any untoward incidents." Water tanks and nirmalya (floral offerings) kalash have been made available for citizens at the immersion spots.
