PMC removes temporary roof of restaurant

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken action against errant establishments and constructions in its drive against illegal encroachments. Officials say these are part of efforts by the municipal body to control encroachments and enforce regulations.

The Highland Bar in Baner had constructed a temporary roof for the rainy season over its open terrace restaurant. The restaurant had apparently not taken any permissions to raise the structure. The PMC officials, on Tuesday, took action and removed the roof shelter structure of the restaurant.

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken action against errant establishments and constructions in its drive against illegal encroachments. Officials say these are part of efforts by the municipal body to control encroachments and enforce regulations.

The Highland Bar in Baner had constructed a temporary roof for the rainy season over its open terrace restaurant. The restaurant had apparently not taken any permissions to raise the structure. The PMC officials, on Tuesday, took action and removed the roof shelter structure of the restaurant.

The PMC also demolished 5,000 square feet of illegal constructions in the newly merged Phursungi area. The RCC and brick work at Saket Vihar colony in the area was demolished using JCB machines, gas cutters and labourers in the presence of the police. Officials say the action was taken after sufficient notice was given to the the errant residents. One official from the PMC construction department said in the last few days, the PMC has demolished encroachments at the rate of more than 7,000 square feet per day.
