“We have realised that nearly 75 per cent of the people visit Aadhaar help centres for updating their Aadhaar details and so we need more such UCL machines. I was informed by the Pune municipal commissioner that they are buying 40 UCL machines,” Rao said.

Pune: District Collector Saurabh Rao on Tuesday said that 40 new ‘Update Client Link’ (UCL) machines will be bought by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) taking the total number of such machines to 60 to accelerate the Aadhaar card updation process.

“We have realised that nearly 75 per cent of the people visit Aadhaar help centres for updating their Aadhaar details and so we need more such UCL machines. I was informed by the Pune municipal commissioner that they are buying 40 UCL machines,” Rao said.

Speaking about the number of Aadhaar centres, Rao said that 210 such centres are operational in Pune district including 162 in Pune city and 54 in Pimpri-Chinchwad. He said that nearly 100 machines of Aadhaar enrollment are damaged beyond repair and so the administration is in communication with UIDAI to procure new machines.
