PMC okays Metro extension up to airport and Wagholi

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)’s Standing Committee has given its nod to the extension of the metro route from Ramwadi to Wagholi and Pune airport.

Pune:  The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)’s Standing Committee has given its nod to the extension of the metro route from Ramwadi to Wagholi and Pune airport. Following the extension of Swargate-Katraj metro route, citizens were demanding the extension of the route from Ramwadi to Wagholi and Ramwadi to Pune airport. 

Speaking to the media, Yogesh Mulik, Chairman of the Standing Committee said, “The Pune-Ahmednagar Road houses many IT companies. As several professionals work in these IT companies, they travel to their destination. The Pune-Ahmednagar Road witnesses frequent traffic jams due to this. So people have demanded the extension of Metro route till Wagholi and Pune Airport. So we have given the nod to extend the metro route to the airport as well as Wagholi.”

Mulik added, “We have decided to bear the cost of detailed project report (DPR) of these two metro route extensions which will be prepared by MahaMetro.”

Earlier, Sunil Tingare,   NCP corporator from Phulengar-Nagpur Chawl ward had written to the PMC City Improvement Committee as well as to MahaMetro company regarding the extension of Metro routes.
