PMC to act against flexes, banners

PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is checking feasibility to take action on unauthorised flexes, banners and hoardings under the plastic ban. Currently, the civic body is collecting information about flex printing units across the city. After collecting the information, it will decide on how and when action can be taken against the erring persons under the plastic ban rules and regulation which was issued by the State government last year.

Unauthorised banners, flexes, hoardings are a menace in the city. Despite frequent orders issued by courts to remove illegal flexes, hoardings and banners, their numbers have not come down. Against the background of forthcoming polls, numbers are likely to increase in coming days. Hence, the PMC has decided to check the feasibility to take action against unauthorised banners and flexes in the city.  Vijay Dahibhate, Head of PMC Skysign Department, said “We have given instructions to officials to collect data of flex and banner printing units in the city. Otherside, we are taking legal opinion and rules under the State government’s plastic ban order.”
