PhD degrees of two NDA teachers found to be cancelled

According to Shukla, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune cancelled the degree of Kamal Chandra Tiwari, a suspended lecturer in Political Science Department of the academy on the grounds of excessive plagiarism. 

PUNE: National Defence Academy (NDA) Principal OP Shukla on Wednesday released a press statement in connection with the PhD degrees of two civilian teachers in the academy. Shukla, in his press statement stated that the PhD degrees of two civilian teachers of the NDA are found to be fraud after the verification was done by concerned universities. 

According to Shukla, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune cancelled the degree of Kamal Chandra Tiwari, a suspended lecturer in Political Science Department of the academy on the grounds of excessive plagiarism. 

The other teacher whose PhD degree has been cancelled is Govind Sarage of Computer Science Department. His degree was cancelled by Singhania University located at Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan on the grounds of incomplete work. 

It is significant to note that a week ago sleuths from the Central Bureau of Investigation conducted searches at the NDA, Khadakwasla, in connection with irregularities in the appointment of teaching faculties. Unidentified officials of the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), Ministry of Defence (MoD), New Delhi and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), New Delhi, are also booked in the case. 

An FIR in this regard was registered on May 8 but it was kept under wraps as President Ram Nath Kovind was coming to review the Passing Out Parade of the 134th course on May 30. The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the CBI registered the case against NDA Principal Om Prakash Shukla, Professor (Political Science) Dr Jagmohan Meher, Assistant Professor (Chemistry) Dr Vanita Puri, and others.
