The water storage in the Pavana dam has reached 2.94 TMC ft on Saturday, which is 34.62 per cent of its storage capacity.

Pimpri: The PCMC has finally withdrawn the 10 per cent water cut in the city, as the water level in Pavana dam is increasing due to continuous rainfall in the catchment areas.

Mayor Nitin Kalje and leader of house Eknath Pawar announced this decision on Saturday. The water storage in the Pavana dam has reached 2.94 TMC ft on Saturday, which is 34.62 per cent of its storage capacity. The PCMC had announced water cut from May 2 despite there being enough water in the dam.

Due to clamour from the opposition parties for the withdrawal of the water cut, the water supply was started on a daily basis instead of alternate days. However, the 10 per cent water cut still continued. In all, 740 mm rainfall has been recorded in the catchment areas of Pavana dam from June 1. During the same period last year, the dam had received only 138 mm rainfall, while only 0.90 TMC ft (10.58 per cent) water storage was reported in the dam. The PCMC needs 0.2 TMC ft water daily.
