Pune: A fireman of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has been suspended from his duty over the alleged charge of rape. Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar passed an order in this regard on Monday.
The accused fireman was identified as Swapnil Thorat, who was booked by the Nigdi police on the charge of rape last month. He was arrested by the police on August 13 and remanded in police custody till August 22, and then incarcerated in the Yerwada prison under judicial custody.
According to the Nigdi police, Thorat was suspended by the PCMC for violating the rules of the Maharashtra Public Service
Commission, 1979.
