PCMC collects Rs 399 cr revenue from building permission dept

Pimpri: Thanks to the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has crossed its annual revenue target of Rs 370 crore of the building permission department. However, this does not mean that more buildings have come up in the city.

On the contrary, the hike in revenue can be attributed to the rush by developers to the department granting building permission before the RERA norms came into the force.

Till February 22, the civic body has earned Rs 399 crore of revenue from the building permission which is more than annual revenue target i.e. Rs 370 crore. In the last seven years, the corporation has sanctioned 8,889 constructions in the city.

In the last seven years in Wakad, the PCMC has sanctioned 901 housing and commercial constructions. Similarly, 416 constructions were sanctioned in Rahatni and Kalewadi.

Surprisingly, in Akurdi, permissions for only 15 buildings were accorded.

Joint City Engineer Rajan Patil said, "Implementation of RERA has helped the civic body as many developers rushed to us for their ongoing projects.” As building permission department crossed the revenue target, the next year's target has been revised to Rs 400 crore.
