PCMC area to have no water cuts this summer

Pimpri: In a major relief for residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is not going to impose water cuts this summer, as there is adequate water in Pavana dam, which will last till the beginning of the monsoon.
Mayor Nitin Kalje said, "Instructions have been given to ensure that there are no water cuts this summer." 

Pimpri: In a major relief for residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is not going to impose water cuts this summer, as there is adequate water in Pavana dam, which will last till the beginning of the monsoon.

A review meeting regarding the water stock in Pavana dam was held on Thursday, attended by Kalje, Standing Committee Chairperson Mamata Gaikwad, Leader of House Eknath Pawar, Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar and Joint City Engineer and in charge of Water Supply Department Ravindra Dudhekar.

"The maintenance work of the supply lines should be undertaken immediately in the areas where water is being supplied with less pressure. The administration has been instructed to make sure there shouldn't be alternate day water supply in the city," said Hardikar. He assured that action will be taken against the concerned officials of the area if there are frequent complaints regarding water supply. 

Water in Pavana Dam
† The dam has 4.39 TMC ft (50.97 per cent) water stock as of now. 
† This year, there is two per cent excess water in the dam, as compared to last year. 
† 450 million litres per day (MLD) water is being released into the river every day for water supply to PCMC area.  
† Water supplied with the current rate is likely to last till June 30. 
† In case of delayed monsoon, the city may face severe water shortage in June.
