Pune: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) has made special provisions to tackle civic issues within its limits, particularly water-logging during the rainy season. The cantonment has assigned dedicated officials for each of its areas to attend to complaints by residents

After the first spell of rain, residents complained about water-logging and choking of stormwater drains in different wards of the PCB. The residents were criticising the cantonment administration for its failure to tackle heavy water-logging as the stormwater drains are not cleaned regularly.

Priyanka Shrigiri, elected Vice-President, PCB, said, “Due to heavy rains yesterday, there was water-logging on MG road. After we received complaints from residents, cleaning of stormwater drains is started.”

The PCB has made a public announcement saying that the residents can contact the supervisors or mukadams assigned to their respective wards to solve the problem of water-logging due to heavy rains.

DN YADAV, CEO, PCB, said, “All residents are requested to see that no empty coconut shells, scrapped tyres or plastic tins are accumulated around their residences. They should also see to it that no water is accumulated to curb mosquito-borne diseases. Everybody is requested to keep the vicinity clean. Our office is taking utmost care to see that fogging, anti-larvae and anti-mosquito measures are being taken on a war footing.”
