PCB to set up sewage treatment plants at Wanawadi, Ghorpadi

Pune: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) will be soon setting up Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) for Wanawadi and Ghorpadi areas of 3 and 2 MLD capacity respectively. The one recently installed at 900 Bootee Street serves Camp area only. The project will be soon submitted to the Principal Director (PD) and then the project will commence.

The one recently installed at 900 Bootee Street serves Camp area only. The project will be soon submitted to the Principal Director (PD) and then the project will commence.

Kiran Mantri, Elected Ward Member, said, “The existing drainage system near Ghorpadi Bazaar has been choked and the sewage is getting stuck there. The existing drainage line has not been repaired till now. Also there was no STP plant for Ghorpadi and Wanawadi areas till now.”

Mantri added, “We were supposed start to this project in collaboration with Pune Municipal Corporation. I had suggested to the municipal corporation to connect Wanawadi and Ghorpadi sewage lines to the STP plant of Koregaon Park, but they did not agree.” She said the STP plant of Wanawadi area will be installed behind Wanawadi area and the STP of Ghorpadi will be installed at Elite Flank Road. She added, “We have got no objection certificate from Defence Estates Office and the project is submitted to the PD. The project is of Rs 6.4 crore and will soon be completed.”

DN Yadav, Chief Executive Officer of PCB, said, “The projects not done till now will be taken over. We are trying to complete the residents’ basic needs that is installing STP plants, giving water supply and electricity.”
