PCB to set up e-library for students of weaker section

The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) will soon set up an e-library and a study room within its jurisdiction to give easy access to study materials to students from underprivileged backgrounds.

Pune: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) will soon set up an e-library and a study room within its jurisdiction to give easy access to study materials to students from underprivileged backgrounds.

Elected ward member Dilip Giramkar said the two floors of the building will have 1,600 sq ft area on Jan Mohammed Street. One floor each will be meant for boys and girls. There will be 10 computers on each floor and a separate space for those who want to study. Also, there will be separate hours for students appearing for UPSC and MPSC. No books will be kept in the reading room.

Priyanka Shrigiri, Vice-President of PCB, said, “All kinds of books will be made available in the e-library. It is mostly for students of schools and colleges. As most of the students come from underprivileged backgrounds who do not get the atmosphere to study. This e-library will provide students with easy access to books, which could help them study in a better way. It will be for free.” A tender amounting to Rs 25 lakh to set up the library is underway.
