PCB mulls pay & park near Poona College

Pune: Students of Poona College and residents of nearby areas will soon get relief from illegal parking of vehicles on the narrow road in front of the college as the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) administration is likely to start a ‘pay and park’ system at Aabaaji Ground in front of the college.

Pune: Students of Poona College and residents of nearby areas will soon get relief from illegal parking of vehicles on the narrow road in front of the college as the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) administration is likely to start a ‘pay and park’ system at Aabaaji Ground in front of the college.

The board administration is also planning to widen the road to help reduce traffic jams in the area. Officials have cited several complaints by residents regarding accidents in the area as a reason for the move. Many resident of housing societies also park their vehicles on the road. Moreover, the board authorities have been noticing lot of encroachment cases in the area as well.

“To avoid these situations, PCB has undertaken a ‘pay and park’ initiative and road widening from Poona College to Modikhana. By this, illegal businesses and parking will also stop. The administration will clean the area and renovate roads by widening them,” said PCB Vice-President Atul Gaikwad.
