PCB to increase the number of mobile towers

Pune: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) does not have an adequate number of mobile towers under its jurisdiction to cater to the mobile network requirement.

Hence, the PCB is in the final stage of accepting bids for 35 mobile network towers to be installed within its limits.

PCB Vice-President Vivek Yadav said, "At the moment, there are 17 towers owned by various telecom companies within the PCB limits. But they are not providing proper network coverage to mobile phone users within the cantonment. As a consequence, poor mobile network and call drops are among the most common complaints received from the citizens. Therefore, new mobile towers will be installed within the areas of the cantonment.”

“We are in the final stage of accepting bids from interested parties for mobile network towers. Around 27 mobile towers will be installed at ‘A1’, three towers will be installed on ‘B4’ land and five towers will be installed on ‘C’ defence land,” Yadav added.
