Pay attention to pending projects, MPs urge CR

Pune: The Members of Parliament (MPs) from Pune, Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur, Solapur, Shirdi and Osmanabad asked the general manager (GM) of Central Railway (CR) to pay attention to long-pending works and start them as soon as possible.

Central Railway officials conducted a meeting with 11 MPs on Friday. The meeting was chaired by DK Sharma, GM of CR, along with principal heads of the departments and Milind Deouskar, DRM, Pune Division, Hitendra Malhotra, DRM, Solapur division were present. 

Vijaysinh Mohite Patil of Madha,Vandana Chavan (Rajya Sabha), Anil Shirole (Pune), Sanjay Kaka Patil (Sangli), Shrirang Appa Barne (Maval), Dhananjay Mahadik (Kolhapur), Shivaji Adhalrao Patil (Shirur), Ravindra Gaikwad (Osmanabad) and Chhatrapati Udaynaraje Bhosale (Satara), Sadashiv Lokhande (Shirdi) and Sharad Bansode (Solapur) were present.
The MPs discussed railway projects, developmental works done and various other issues related to railway with the GM, Central Railway and other officers.

During the meeting, MPs raised the issues related to long-pending works of doubling the railway lines, electrification and providing more facilities to passengers. The MPs also emphasised that major infrastructural works such as doubling, new lines and electrification should be given special attention.

The presentation featured various passenger amenities provided at a number of stations within Pune and Solapur divisions. A number of issues, including escalators, lifts at stations, new FOBs, water vending machines, LED lighting, plastic bottle crushing machines, new booking offices, sanitary napkin vending machines, free WiFi at stations, mobile app ticketing system, station beautifications, tree plantation programmes, etc were discussed.

The GM appealed to MPs to help in land acquisition for railway projects. He said CR will soon be the first zone to be fully electrified.
