Pune: The District Consumer Forum has ordered the Bharati Airtel to refund Rs 24,200 amount to a city-based man and also pay him Rs 10,000 compensation, as he was not able to use 4G internet services.
Udik Chand Arora from Mohammadwadi had filed the complaint in this regard in 2016. He was given a 4G connection at his residence January 30, 2015.
“I could not get the promised service from the company as per its provision. I lodged a complaint from time to time but did not get the proper service. I had paid Rs 24,200 from the month of January-2015 to March-2016. There was a poor range in the area of my residence,” the complainant stated.
The Airtel company was issued notice following which its representative appeared before the forum. They denied complainant’s allegations. “A technical person visited the premises of the complainant and checked the availability of coverage and found that there is a proper adequate availability of coverage in the area and same was informed to the complainant from time to time,” the company stated before the forum.
The forum found that the company did not submit any cogent documentary evidence to corroborate their contention that the complainant has utilised their services for a considerable period.
“Thus, the company has miserably failed to prove that they rendered the proper telecommunication services, which was used by the complainant,” the forum held.
The company has been directed to pay the amount within 45 days, else nine per cent interest will be charged till payment of the amount.
