Pawar should attend to matters of his party: Poonam Mahajan

Pune: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar should see what is happening in his party instead of taking interest in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha national president and BJP MP Poonam Mahajan on Saturday.

She criticised Pawar's comments during his recent interview with Raj Thackeray that there was a communication gap between the Central cabinet ministers and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mahajan was in the city to attend 'Yuva Sanvad', a gathering of youths.

Addressing the gathering at Sarasbaug, she said, “Pawar should concentrate on his party. When I watched Pawar being interviewed by Raj Thackeray, I knew that henceforth, the engine would be run by the watch.”

She said, “All political parties should give reservations to women on the lines of local-self governments. The BJP has already given 33 per cent reservation to women. Now, other parties should follow.”

Commenting on a remark by the All India Marathi Literary Convention President, littérateur Laxmikant Deshmukh, on the suppression of freedom of expression by the Central government, where he said PM Modi was going wrong on this matter, Mahajan said, "Actors and littérateurs should not question politicians and interfere in their matters. They should first cast their vote."

She added, “There is enough to do in their own fields.”

Mahajan felicitated the youths, who have done commendable work in their fields. Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha State President MLA Yogesh Tilekar, its city president Deepak Pote were present. Before joining the gathering, Mahajan conducted road shows in Katraj and Hadapsar areas.
