Pune: A new revolutionary technological development, Knee Arthrodesis Modular System (KAM), will help patients suffering from knee disorders and ease their pain, especially those who cannot get a knee transplant. It is a small pin-like metal device that can help people with knee disorders.

This technique gives mobility and relief from knee disorders. It can cure injuries where knee replacement is not possible. It also helps in cases where there are complications, even after knee surgery. It also responds to issues in joint fusion.

Dr Neeraj Adkar of SaiShree Hospital for Special Surgeries has successfully performed the first surgery in Maharashtra using the revolutionary technique.

Dr  Adkar, Chairman and Chief Orthopedic Surgeon, SaiShree Hospital, said that it is very fortunate that this technique is finally available in the city. This will benefit many people in numerous ways.“Although the time taken for performing the KAM procedure itself is slightly more than other methods, it has been noted that the patients generally start walking after only two to three weeks, which was up to six months in standard surgical processes without KAM,” said Dr Adkar.
