Parth, Barne to file forms on April 9

Pimpri: The main rivals for the Maval Lok Sabha seat, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)-Congress’s Parth Pawar  and Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Shrirang Barne will file their nomination forms here on Tuesday, April 9.

April 9 is also the last date for filing nominations in Maval and Shirur Lok Sabha seats.

Senior leaders of both the alliances are expected to participate in the rallies on that day.

The Nationalist Congress Party rally will be attended by former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, MP Supriya Sule, Congress leader Harshavardhan Patil, and Shirur’s NCP nominee Dr Amol Kolhe.

The Shiv Sena-BJP rally will be attended by Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray, MLAs Gautam Chabukswar and Bala Bhengde.

Barne said he will personally request MLA and Pimpri Chinchwad BJP unit president Laxman Jagtap to be present at the time of filing the nomination papers.

Meanwhile, efforts to persuade MLA Jagtap to support his political rival Barne have almost met with a dead end.

The MLA has refused to reconcile with Barne despite mediation by Shiv Sena leaders Dr Neelam Gorhe, MP Sanjay Raut and even BJP leader and Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan.
