Over 2.30L families eligible for Ayushman Bharat in Pune

More than 2.50 lakh city-based families eligible for newly launched government-funded health insurance scheme named Ayushman Bharat. Pune: More than 2.50 lakh city-based families eligible for newly launched government-funded health insurance scheme named Ayushman Bharat. During a function of the distribution of e-cards to eligible families of health insurance scheme in Pune by Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale and District Guardian Minister Girish Bapat on Sunday. In this function, District Collector Naval Kishor Ram shared information about beneficiaries. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in Ranchi. It is Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ambitious  Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. It aims to provide poor and vulnerable families coverage for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation. On Sunday, Union Minister Athawale and Guardian Minister Girish Bapat distributed e-cards. 

While speaking in the function, Athawale said, “In the State, almost 84 lakh of families will get benefit of this scheme. At present, Mahatma Phule Janaroyga Yojana is running in the State for poor families. Now, both schemes will be available for them.” He appealed the administration to provide benefit to maximum poor families.  District Collector Ram said, “There are 2,77,633 eligible families for Ayushman Bharat. According to 2011 census, there are 4, 57,028 beneficiary families in Pune district.

Out of that, 2, 77, 633 families are from the city while 1,79, 395 families belong to the rural part of the city. Government hospitals and medical colleges will provide medical facilities under this scheme to families. In the second phase, the government will include private hospitals.” 

Meanwhile, the inauguration of the country’s largest health insurance scheme comes a month after a pilot programme was announced by the prime minister in his Independence Day address.  

In the insurance plan, under Ayushman Bharat, the government also aims to open 1.5 lakh health and wellness centres by 2022, which will be equipped to treat diseases including blood pressure, diabetes and cancer.
