Pune: Around 1,500 persons and family members of employees of Bharat Forge staged a protest at labour commissioner office in Wakdewadi on Monday morning.
The members of Bharat Forge Karmachari Sanghatana(BFKS) were protesting for equal pay for equal work. The members claimed that since many workers were on the contract they are in constant fear of losing their jobs.
Around 9 employees were suspended from their job for forming BFKS.In a press note issued by BFKS, they demanded that the suspended 9 employees should be taken back on work and they should get other employee benefits.The list of demands of the protestors was submitted to the labour department.
Assistant commissioner of labour Balasaheb Wagh said that a decision on the demands of people working for Bharat forge will be taken after meeting with all senior officials of Labour department.
A heavy police deployment was present at the labour commissioner office including Deputy commissioner of police Deepak Sakore, Police inspector Laxman Borate and 25 other police officials. When Sakal times tried to get in touch with Bharat Forge, they did not respond till Monday evening.
