Pune: The wife of Ranka Jewellers’ owner has lodged an FIR against their three servants for allegedly stealing gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs 22.6 lakh from their flat in Vardhmanpura Society in Gultekdi.

Jyotsana Anil Ranka (45) has accused her servants Manoj Paswan (32), Prakash Gujar (20), both staying with Rankas, and Asha (29) of Mukund Nagar. She suspects that any one of them or three of them together had stolen the ornaments by using a duplicate key.

According to the police, since February 28, Jyotsana had been going to attend wedding rituals of a relative and had removed the ornaments from the locker and kept them in the cupboard. The theft came to light on March 1. “The key of the room where the cupboard is kept was lost about a year ago. Also, the servants have duplicate keys of the room. Therefore, I suspect that they may have stolen the ornaments as they are the ones who have access to the room,” she stated in her FIR registered with Market Yard police station.

Nobody has been arrested yet. “We are still investigating the case,” a police officer said.
