Opposition questions inauguration of incomplete projects
Nana Kate questioned, “Why did the ruling party inaugurate the project even when the work was incomplete."
PIMPRI: Corporators of the Opposition parties have blamed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for indulging in a publicity stunt by inaugurating incomplete developmental projects. Some civic activists have also joined the bandwagon and claimed that BJP is rushing inaugurations unnecessarily.
Pimple Saudagar corporator Nana Kate questioned the inauguration of Y junction flyover in Wakad. BJP MLA Laxman Jagtap had inaugurated the project on May 7. However, Kate questioned, “Why did the ruling party inaugurate the project even when the work was incomplete.”
Similarly, citizen activists have questioned the decision to inaugurate Empire Estate Flyover. Co-Coordinator of Jagruk Nagarik Manch Ashok Mangal said, “We went to see the work of the newly inaugurated flyover but not many people are able to use it as BRTS route is not operational.”
Mangal said, “Although the flyover is complete, BRTS route is not operational due to an ongoing dispute between the private company and PCMC over land acquisition. The private company owner has not accepted any of the proposals submitted by the PCMC for alternate land.”
Mangal added, “The industrial unit is located between Kalewadi Phata and Dehu-Alandi BRTS road. So despite completing the bridge, the civic body is unable to make BRTS route operational. As a result, the flyover is not proving to be of much use to the majority of people of Pimpri Chinchwad in absence of BRTS route.”
