Pune: An Indigo Airlines flight from Pune to Chennai was delayed on Thursday for around three hours as a passenger entry door was not closed properly. The issue was noticed by a passenger a few minutes before the flight was ready to take off.
Flight 6E-302 with over 100 passengers onboard was scheduled to take off from Pune at 1:45 pm. After the passengers had boarded the flight, the crew started the routine for taking off. However, it was soon noticed that the door wasn’t closing properly. While the passengers waited, a team of Indigo staffers started to fix the problem, which took a long time to resolve.
Some of the passengers made public their concerns. “Door isn’t closing, six people (from Indigo) are trying ... Would you take this flight?,” a passenger posted on Twitter along with a picture.
This is the second time in less than 10 days that an Indigo flight was delayed inordinately. On May 4, a Pune-Kochi Indigo flight was delayed by over four hours. The flight (6E 338) from Pune to Kochi was supposed to take off at 2.45 am, but it could do so around 6:15 am.
When contacted by Sakal Times, an Indigo official said there was some interference in the passenger entry door. “While preparing for departure of 6E 302 flight Pune to Chennai, some interference was noted while closing the passenger entry door. The technical team did a thorough check prior to departure to ensure door operation was satisfactory. The aircraft was cleared post-inspection. This process resulted in a minor delay in the departure,” said a statement issued by the airline.
