Pune: The pass percentage for scholarship exams of Std V and VIII is only 18 per cent this year. This exam was conducted in February.
The results were declared by Maharashtra State Council of Examination around 3 pm on Thursday. A total of 1,54,622 students have qualified the State-level scholarship examination.
For Std V, 4,72,884 students had appeared out of which 1,09,225 qualified. While for Std VIII, 3,98,902 students appeared for scholarship exams out of which 45,397 qualified. Among these, 16,588 students will receive the scholarship.
The pass percentage of Std VIII is only 12 per cent. This year the examination of Std VIII was difficult as it contained 20 per cent of question which had two probable correct answers. The candidates were required to mark both the probable answers to get full marks for the question. Maharashtra State Council of Examination cited this to be the reason for low pass percentage in Std VIII this year.
