Criticising the BJP government, Kakade said, “Note ban and GST have ruined the country. The farmer has nothing today. Everything is being designed and done only for the rich.”

Taking a political potshot, he said, “I am from Nimbut in Baramati. Today, only Baba Adhav is truly a people’s leader. Others need food, drinks and transportation to get people to come to them. People from Baramati will know that better.”

District Guardian Minister Girish Bapat said, “Kakade has always been accessible to everyone irrespective of ideology or party. He has been a people’s person. He has helped countless people without asking anything in return.”

Veteran leader Baba Adhav, said, “Our friendship goes long back beyond our differences of opinions. He is like a beehive. He is surrounded by volunteers. He belongs to them. His wife Kanthavati handled them all with love.”

Former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan also wished him on his birthday.
