Civic body fails to build underpass, defence warns it will not allow construction of Lullanagar flyover 

Pune: The Ministry of Defence has warned the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) that they would not allow the civic body to construct the proposed Lullanagar flyover, if it fails to initiate construction of an underpass connecting the Cardio-Thoracic Centre to the New Command Hospital by September 15. 

This was revealed by Municipal Commissioner Kunal Kumar during the weekly Standing Committee meeting on Tuesday when a proposal regarding issuing the work order to construct the underpass was tabled for discussion and approval.

The PMC is known for carrying out development projects at a snail’s pace.

The PMC had floated a tender to carry out the construction work of the underpass at a cost of Rs 4.48 crore. 

A proposal to appoint a private agency was approved by the Standing Committee on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Defence had already given its permission to the PMC for starting construction of the Lullanagar flyover.
