Pune: Even after tall claims made by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on completing pre-monsoon work, many societies were flooded in Kalvad area near Dhanori during pre-monsoon showers last week.
Following this incident, the civic administration has warned that the payments of contractors will not be released if they fail to complete nala cleaning work. These fresh instructions were issued following an incident in the area, wherein waterlogging was reported after the contractor had claimed to have completed pre-monsoon nala cleaning .
Deputy Mayor Siddharth Dhende, during his visit to Viman Nagar and Vaibhav Colony in Kalvad area, found out that cleaning work was not done properly in that area and informed this to municipal officials.
Dhende told Sakal Times, “The information provided by the contractor to administration is false. I believe only 10 per cent work has been completed. After knowing about the shoddy work by the contractor, the administration should take appropriate action against officials and contractors for lethargic work”
Rajendra Nimbalkar, Additional Municipal Commissioner, said, “I have given the order to check the status of work and if they find false reporting then the payment of the respective contractors will be stopped.”
