No hike in PCMC’s property tax this year
The budgetary proposals will now be placed before the civic body’s General Body meeting
PIMPRI: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation administration has not proposed any hike in property and other taxes in the next financial year.
A budgetary proposal for the new financial year submitted by the civic administration was approved by the Standing Committee of the municipal corporation on Tuesday. Standing Committee Chairperson Mamata Gaikwad presided over the meeting.
Standing Committee member Vilas Madigeri said that MLA Laxman Jagtap, BJP city unit president, had suggested that there should be no hike in any taxes in the next financial year and this suggestion has been accepted.
The budgetary proposals will now be placed before the civic body’s General Body meeting on February 20 for approval, he said.
The Standing Committee has also approved a proposal to give the financial reward to anyone who provides details of residential or commercial properties which are yet to be assessed for payment of property tax.
The informers will be paid 10 per cent of the general tax in the property tax of the unregistered properties. The informers will need to provide information about the property owners and address of the property.
The information of the unregistered residential and commercial properties is expected to substantially increase the civic body’s revenue.
