Pune: Though people are sending complaints about traffic rule violations on Pune traffic police’s WhatsApp number, Facebook page and Twitter handle, action is not taken promptly.
Manvinder Bali wrote about a school bus driver driving dangerously in Wanawadi. He also posted photos of the bus and the driver on Pune traffic police’s Facebook page. “I am writing to make you aware of the callous attitude of school bus drivers. There are several school buses in the area, and most of them drive rash, endangering not just pedestrians, but also the children they are ferrying. Today, I approached a driver who passed within inches of me. When I asked him to drive slowly, he got abusive. I took a photo of the bus, and he jumped out, daring me to take his picture. Such is the arrogance among drivers,” he wrote.
Another Twitter user Vikas wrote, “Very frustrated with the unethical drivers in Pune. Traffic situation and ethics are questionable here. Here people prefer to choose wrong lanes to commute when roads are busy and jump traffic signals. What needs to be done?”
Social media is flooded with complaints about traffic violations but in most cases, the police have not replied if they have taken any action on the inputs.
DCP (Traffic) Ashok Morale did not respond to calls or text messages.
