NIA files final charge sheet in activities of CPI (Maoist) case

Pune: The National Investigative Agency (NIA) has filed the final charge sheet in the case on activities of CPI (Maoist) after completing a five-year investigation. A conspiracy was hatched by CPI (Maoist) as per which a Central Technical Committee (CTC) was formed, which established a technical unit in Pune, among other places, to develop sophisticated arms and ammunitions including rocket launchers to be used in Dandakaranya forest.

Pune: The National Investigative Agency (NIA) has filed the final charge sheet in the case on activities of CPI (Maoist) after completing a five-year investigation. A conspiracy was hatched by CPI (Maoist) as per which a Central Technical Committee (CTC) was formed, which established a technical unit in Pune, among other places, to develop sophisticated arms and ammunitions including rocket launchers to be used in Dandakaranya forest.

According to the charge sheet, the role of 14 persons has been given in conspiracy including Muppalla Laxmanrao Ganpathy, the supreme commander and General Secretary of CPI (Maoist), for waging a war against the nation.

The final charge sheet was filed in NIA special court in Kolkata on July 3. Nine persons were arrested in the case, whereas five including Ganpathy, Somji alias Sahdev, Thippari Tirupati, Prabhakar alias Balmuri Narayan Rao and Nambala Keshava Rao have still not been arrested.
The case came into the limelight after the arrest of five members of Central Technical Committee by Kolkata Special Task Force (STF) in February 2012.
