Pune: Lieutenant General Timothy Keating, member of New Zealand Order of Merit, Chief of Defence Forces, New Zealand, accompanied by Brenda Keating, his wife and a delegation of seven members, visited Pune on Wednesday and Thursday.
They visited the National Defence Academy (NDA) to know about the methodology of training there.
After a brief visit to Air Force Station, Lohegaon on Wednesday, Lt Gen Keating and his team visited Headquarters Southern Command and NDA, Khadakwasla on Thursday.
On arrival, Lt Gen Keating and the delegation was given a brief on activities of Southern Command, after which he interacted with Lt Gen DR Soni, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command.
A press release from the Southern Command stated, “Chief of Defence Forces New Zealand visited NDA for obtaining a first-hand experience on the methodology of training at NDA, which is a premiere tri-services training institute for training officers of the three services.”
Brenda Keating visited ‘Protsahan’, a skill development centre of Southern Command, which imparts training to empower wives of Army personnel, where she was acquainted with vocational training courses being conducted there.
She interacted with Suman Soni, Regional President of Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA). After the visit to Pune, the Chief of Defence Forces of New Zealand, along with the delegation, left for Mumbai on Thursday.
