Pimpri: There is good news for air travellers from Pimpri-Chinchwad, as Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has undertaken the work of connecting Charholi to Lohegaon, which will reduce the distance from Moshi to Lohegaon from 25 km to 12 km.
Due to this road, entire Pimpri-Chinchwad, Talegaon-Dabhade and Rajgurunagar and other adjoining industrial areas will be benefited. The work of the road will be undertaken in three phases and work orders of Rs 97 crore have already been issued. These three phases include work of Rs 17 crore, Rs 43 crore and Rs 37 crore respectively.
According to officials, “The width of this road is 45 metres at some stretches and 30 metres at other places. The total length of this stretch is 5.25 km. As per the work order, the road is expected to be completed in next one-and-half years.
Charholi and Lohegaon villages share common borders. The work of the road from Lohegaon to Charholi border has been completed as an education complex of a private educational institution is located here. Beyond the Charholi border, there is a demarcated road but it has not been developed yet.
The people of Pimpri-Chinchwad city can reach this proposed road from three routes - Bhosari Magazine corner via Tajnemala, Spine Road-Weir House corporation to Vadmukhwadi-Charholi and third route is Moshi-Dudulgaon via Charholi Phata.
Mayor Nitin Kalaje, who is from Charholi, said, “The road will be a reality in next one-and-half-years. The Lohegaon airport is very close to Charholi jurisdiction. So this road is going to provide a vital link.”
