Residents of Cantonment area will be able to avail the services at the hall at nominal rates
Pune: The Pune Cantonment Board inaugurated a newly constructed marriage lawn at Wanawadi Bazaar to cater to the growing demand on Tuesday.
Currently, there are four event halls in Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) limits, which are mainly used for wedding functions, but only one was functional and in high demand.
Earlier, there were four wedding and event halls including the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marriage Hall at Babajan Chowk, Solapur Community Hall at Solapur Bazaar Road, Ghorpadi Marriage Hall at Ghorpadi and Dhanraj Parmar Hall
Of these, only the one in Ghorpadi is functional. DN Yadav, Chief Executive Officer of PCB, said, “The Ambedkar Hall and Solapur Community Hall have been shut as there were technical glitches. The Dhanraj Parmar Hall is for small events and functions.”
Yadav further added, “The marriage hall in Ghorpadi used to be totally booked during the wedding season and hence, there was a need to provide a marriage lawn at nominal rates for the residents of the
Vinod Mathurawala, elected board member of PCB said, “The marriage hall is different from the rest of the halls as the hall and the lawn are separate. Also, the booking charge for residents of Cantonment is Rs 5,000 per day while for people residing outside the Cantonment, it is Rs 10,000.”
About the new marriage lawn in PCB
The inaugural function was attended by Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director, Defence Estates, Sanjeev Kumar, Director, Defence Estates, Rajendra Pawar, Defence Estates Officer, Pune Circle and Abhijeet Sanap, CEO, Dehu Road. All elected members also attended the programme.
The Bicentennial Marriage Lawn situated behind Girme High School, Wanawadi Bazaar was inaugurated by LK Pegu, Principal Director, Defence Estates, Southern Command, Pune.
The area was previously occupied by many encroachers
